As a matter of fact the school teachings be it government or private are equally disgraced in the country. Both of them provide very poor level of teaching in the present day. However the education cost is low in the government schools and higher in the private schools. Looking at this some astonishing features has come up in recent times.
One of the most astonishing features about the education system in India is that even though the education cost is minimal in government schools, the salary of the teachers teaching in primary schools is close to Rs 16,000 to Rs 22,000. Along with that they have the security, medical facilities, bonus and retirement plans. Taking these into consideration the salary reaches around Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 per month.
This may not be a very lavish salary but it is definitely a handsome amount for all those who have come from the rural areas and villages. On the other hand the teachers teaching in private schools get very low salaries in the same areas.
Even though the education cost is very high in the private schools. The elite schools charge maximum amount for education. Even then the teachers get paid very scarcely. The teachers in the primary section in private schools get a salary that starts from around Rs 2,000 and ends at Rs 6,000. This is very tragic. The students are charged unnecessarily even though they do not get good teaching.
There is no point in blaming the teachers of the schools. If the teachers of private schools are not paid well, why will they take the pain of teaching the students with all their knowledge? On the other hand the government school teachers get very good salaries but still they are not interested in providing proper and good quality education to the students.
Everyone thinks that the people who should be teachers should be good and more qualified. However due to the current economic situation no one wants to become a teacher if they are qualified enough. Only the people who are not qualified enough and are left with no other job opportunity look forward to teaching jobs.
The phenomenon is completely understandable. Why would a person study engineering and then become a teacher for Rs 22,000 when he could earn double the amount in another profession with the same amount of qualification and knowledge. This has left the current education system in a very bad position where there are very few people who are good in the profession and look to serve the country.
The main reason why people join to teach in private schools at very low salaries is because they look forward to teaching in government schools in the future. Since the recruitment process for government schools is very lengthy and takes time they apply in the government process and join a private school in the time that they have to wait to get through to a government school.
