In order to provide some nice privileges to the under-privileged children of the society, Project Akshar is yet another attempt and fulfills all the demands of the children very profoundly. This project began in the year 2011 by some of the students who noticed the amount of paper or sheets that are being dumped in the dustbin. The main aim of this project was to help the children who cannot afford to buy the expensive books or the copies for their studies. This project also helped the people that are deaf in a very unique way. This project worked with the deaf women that were there in the Delhi Foundation and started to foster a new relationship between the children and these women.
Every people involved in this project found it a lot more fun and entertaining than it already is. The main focus was to take the sheets from the dustbins or from the streets and use it in making books by taking the help of the deaf women who are skilled in providing binding services to the people. These books that are then produced are very much cheap and are much more eco-friendly than the other ones. After converting the sheets or the pages into good books, they are then transported to various schools or colleges or any other institutions that are in the rural areas or in the villages. Many slum areas have also been benefitted by these books as they lack any schools or colleges. This initiative is a unique way to provide education to the poor children at a very low cost than desired and the children also make some nice future by reading these books. A lot of NGOs have also taken active participation in the supplying of these books in the rural areas and thus helping the people of the lower class society.
Apart from the benefits provided to the rural areas, this project has also benefitted the urban areas in a fine way by recycling the waste sheets that are being dumped that result in unnecessary wastage. In this way this project has reduced a lot of ground pollution and helped the surrounding to remain clean. This project has emerged to be a great opportunity for the children of the society and has made some nice improvements in our society by bringing the backward children to the front and thus helping them compete with the other children of the communities.
Project Akshar has made a great impact in the lives of a lot of people. The people who wanted to educate their children but could not can now do so without any problems. This project has helped more than two hundred children till date and is continuing to do so without any obstacles. The government has also supported this noble project and has made some nice funding that has helped this project to thrive in the venture and help both the disabled women as well as the under-privileged kids in their journey to create a good future.
