The latest method in education in India is the Montessori Method. The Montessori Method was actually founded by Maria Montessori. According to her children had the power to direct his or her own way of going forward. They have the capability to decide what they want to decide. It is for the adults to understand their direction and guide them properly and encourage them rather than discourage them. Adults should provide them with the perfect environment in which they can feel comfortable to move forward in their chosen direction.
The method is divided into four major parts. They are as follows:
Practical experience:
This is like a live environment same as the environment in which the child has been growing. The children carry out their work in this homely environment. This makes them comfortable. It helps the children spiritually and emotionally. It allows them to develop better social connections with the people around them. The students are taught to carry out their work by themselves. They do all the basic work that will help them in life. This is like making them self sufficient at the smallest age possible. It is more like a boarding school where you are entitled to do all your work.
Sensitive activities:
In this part of the activity the children are to use their sense organs. It helps them to hear, smell, see, feel and taste. With this kind of activity they can have a better knowledge of things. This allows them to know exactly what they are surrounded by. They get to realize what is what. They are brought closer to reality with this kind of activity.
Language:
Language is amongst the most important things that a child needs to learn. This helps the child to communicate throughout his life. When he enters the class the teacher takes up the responsibility of talking to the child on a regular basis to make sure that he knows how to speak and what to speak. The teacher gives him enough practice to make sure he knows what the things around him are and so that he can identify the objects around him. Rhymes, stories etc are enforced in the learning curriculum. Finally with enough practice the students get to write and read gradually and progressively.
Numeric knowledge:
In this part the students is taught of mathematics. He is allowed free access to do whatever he wants and wherever he wants. He can choose his partner in the activity and do it how he wants as long as he is not disturbing the other students. Here the teachers are not allowed to intervene with the students unnecessarily. Rather teachers should be there only to look after the students and guide them only if it is required. Otherwise the students do everything on their own. This allows him to move forward with confidence, doing it with partners allow the students to build a community. It also builds team spirit and leadership qualities in a student.
