After passing out high school, students find great difficulty when they try to opt for any college. There are large numbers of small and large colleges in all the metro cities as well as other cities. But students cannot trust the quality of education and services they provide.
All the major and important institutions from the cities of Kolkata, Pune, Chandigarh and Hyderabad are uniting together to make a big project or institution which is known as the Meta University.
This has been already tried out and verified in Delhi University and the Jamia Millia Islamia about the concept of this Meta University. All the important colleges from Kolkata, Chandigarh, Pune and Hyderabad are coming under one roof where available resources regarding studies will be shared in common.
Students as well as the teachers will be enjoying one of the best facilities absolutely at free of cost which is the good thing about this plan. Only Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Indian Institute of Technology of Delhi branch are not willing to participate in this project for some private issues.
Among the many other major institutions participating in this project is Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research of Chandigarh, IIT of Hyderabad and Ropar, Indian School of Business of Hyderabad as well as IIM of Calcutta.
This project is based only on those defined cities because according to the human resource development, the above defined cities are regarded as the education hubs of India as large number of students as well as colleges are situated over there. For an example, fifteen colleges have already come under a branch which is commonly known as "Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster" or in short CRIKC. This branch falls under the category of Meta University.
There has been great deal of confusion, negotiations and discussions including many hot debates regarding this project. Creating such a project is not a minor task. This idea of forming a Meta University was thought of since long time but was not coming under effect since many institutions were not willing to participate in this due to risks involved about the success of this plan.
But finally after lots of arguments and meetings, all the major institutions agreed to take part in this plan in the month of May this year. The director or Punjab University, Dr. Vineet Punia said, "Work for this project started more than one year ago. Punjab University is fixing it. The participating colleges of higher education include IIT Ropar, PEC University of Technology, PGIMER, NIPER and IISER Mohali and many more.
It is found out that CRIKC is even better than the bond of DU and Jamia Millia Islamia. CRIKC will be chosen for many kinds of research works which were never done before. With the help of this Meta University plan, the education system is expected to go to quite a higher level than it is at present. Free access to valuable resources will be very beneficial for the students as well for teachers to improve education quality.
