Politics plays a huge role in India and corruption is a branch of it. Almost each and every initiative taken by the Indian government, politics is a must to rule it. In fact education is also ruled by politics. Renowned universities like Delhi University, Benaras Hindu University and the state universities of Meerut, Rajasthan and many others have individual political bodies that rule and stand for the welfare of the students.
Among all the aforesaid, political campaign in the Delhi University has always been a matter to get concerned about. The ABVP or the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, this year, has turned with issues that have been the most alarming topic like corruption.
The Delhi university students union i.e. the DUSU has started their campaign which sometimes is related to corruption. The ABVP campaign is to alarm the people against the ongoing corruption of the political leaders of India. Being in association with the BJP, the ABVP has raised the questions against this shady works. However, the ABVP says that their protest is against the political corruption by the congress. They claim that they are directly not involving issues and complaint against the Delhi University.
Rohit Chahal who is the ABVP state secretary says that India faces a lot of corruption and obstruction due to political reasons. He also added that election campaigns affect a lot of the other students indirectly. The corrupted ways of funds allocation affect the students a lot. The ABVP claims that their protest is against those major issues.
A similar protest against corruption was also observed in many other state universities. Umesh Dutt, the National general secretary, claims that the government at present has already crossed all the limits of corruptions. Colleges and university elections must concern only with the university issues related to the students. But nowadays these election campaigns have crossed all limits. The way of doing any of their works has corruptions added to.
There are various student parties in other parts of India like the NSUI or the National Students Union of India and AISA or the All India Students Associations. These political parties also claim that the main focus of the university elections must be only on the issues regarding students’ welfare. Indian government is surrounded with the corruptions of political parties. Every student or other common people are in one or the other way involved in the welfare of the country. But it is not a right option to involve university elections in any other activities other than students’ welfare.
Amrish Ranjan, the state secretary of National Students Union of India strictly mentions that the only issue on which the college or university elections must be concerned is the students’ welfare. He also puts pressure on the fact that the protest against these corruptions must be solved only by elected candidates of the Delhi University Students Union.
Many other issues like college fees, hostel accommodation cost and condition of its food and lodging conditions, security for girl students must be put stressed rather than other issues for the Delhi University elections.
