CBSE is an acronym for Central Board for Secondary Education. CBSE is the board of education for private and public schools under the union government of India. History of the Board
The first education board established in India was Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and intermediate education, set up in the year 1921. Later, in the year 1929 the Indian government set up a joint board named Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana. After passing through a series of laws and other educational modifications, it was renamed 'Central Board of Secondary Education' or CBSE in the year 1952. The journey for CBSE to become what it is has been long and tenuous.

In addition to the Kendriya Vidyalayas(KV) , Delhi Public Schools (DPS) and Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalayas (JDV; previously called Dayanand Arya Vidyalayas abbreviated as DAV.), CBSE also affiliates a number of public and private schools. It has its own specific course books available at the leading bookstores around the nation.

From Odisha and West Bengal in the east to Gujarat and Rajasthan in the west; from Jammu and Kashmir in the north to Tamil Nadu in the south, CBSE affiliated schools are situated all over the nation. Most of the union territories like Chandigarh; Pondicherry etc also have schools affiliated by the CBSE.

Why CBSE
CBSE completed its fifty years of existence and functioning in the country last year. In these fifty years, the board has gracefully embraced the changes in the curriculum maintaining harmony between all the subjects and balance between studies and extracurricular activities at class 10 level. At the class 12 level, it introduced the proper stability of basic concepts of the respective subjects in all the three streams that made studying a pleasure to the students.
CBSE is a winner not because it has not made any mistakes, but because it has learnt from its mistakes. It has had the courage to take initiative to make its students a competent individual with the confidence to take on the world.
