A comparison between different courses is the favourite topic at every career counselling event. When we have a number of options, it is better to choose the one which is the finest! B.Sc has been a rage in the previous decades. Students flocked towards this degree like bees getting attracted towards a honeycomb. But with the advent of technological studies in India, B.Tech replaced the charm of B.Sc to become the most sought after graduate course for Indian students from a science background. All over India there are countless colleges at every nook and corner offering a B.Sc or B.Tech degree so a comparison between the two is inevitable.
Delhi University Colleges remains to be an eye-catching graduation destination for students all over India. Although Delhi University has created a well settled brand with its highly celebrated B.Sc courses yet a number of B.Tech courses are also mushrooming up in some selected colleges. For the B.Sc courses the cut-offs touch the sky every year and average and below average students finds it absolutely difficult to land a seat in the B.Sc courses in the best colleges of Delhi.
If we talk about among B.Sc and B.Tech; the one which is better? The answer lies in the interest and natural calling of the student. If you are more interested in a technical course rather than a B.Sc degree then B.Tech remains the wiser option. But if you have an interest in a particular subject and you want to study that subject further and carry on with it and land yourself into some research field then you should go for a B.Sc. degree over B.Tech. Although the B.Tech courses have been freshly started still they are a signal of a building up technical education system under DU. If you are comfortable with basic science subjects and are more inclined to the non-technical aspects of science, B.Sc is a good choice, and coupled with M.Sc you can make the most of it in your career. Alternatively if you are interested in the technical side of science, designs, calculations, figures and inventions etc., and ready to try your hands on a demanding and challenging route, B.Tech is the right choice.
Evaluating your own interests and likes will give you a right answer to your query. Do not compromise for a lesser interesting degree because it is you who has to carry forward your studies for another three or four years.
Delhi University offers a number of good placement options and proper education in both B.Tech and B.Sc courses. The only thing to worry about is having a decent percentage in your intermediate examination to clear the high cut offs which are the first step towards landing in a good college under the Delhi University.
Whether B.Tech or B.Sc the career prospects of a course depend majorly upon the fact whether you are loyal towards your course of not and are really inclined towards the particular subjects to study. So choose wisely according to your interests!
