An education fair was organized for Indian students at the Oberoi Grand Hotel in Kolkata. 26 American universities sent their representatives to this fair to explain the courses on offer. This meet would give the Indian students an opportunity to have their doubts cleared about the procedure to apply in America. This was a great opportunity for the students to interact with the representatives and know more about the type of education in America.
The fair started at about 2 PM in the afternoon and carried on for 4 hours till 6 PM in the evening. There were detailed discussions on the academic programs and the various courses that were on offer for the Indian students. There were courses for all levels of education.
The students got to interact with a lot of people from the US. They were given very good information regarding education. They were explained in details about the various entrance exams that the students would have to appear for and the various scholarship programs for the students. There was an US consultant who was giving students information on the job opportunities in the US and how students needed to apply for visa to get permission to study in the US.
The fair was held in association of the USIEF and the IIE. The fair was made free for all the students who wanted to attend the fair. All the students had to do was to register them for the fair. The registration could be done either online or by visiting the place in person. The main purpose of the fair was to give the students a fair idea about the best universities in America.
The 26 American University representatives spoke to the Indian students about the courses, fee structure, and the admission process and visa application. The prospect of the fair was to give the students a chance to see for themselves and explore what they wanted to know. This was a lifetime opportunity for a lot of students to get to know the trends of education in the US.
The students were given full freedom to ask any question they wanted. This was a session of doubt clearance for many. They could ask questions face to face to the representatives of the various universities. The financial problems of the students were being looked into. They were given the best possible solutions regarding any kind of queries regarding the admission process. The universities would help the students in every possible way to get their admissions done and apply for their visa.
This was a great meet both for the students as well as the representatives. The students discovered a lot about the universities and the education system of that country and the representatives got to know the Indian students in a better way. There was free flow of information from both ends. More and more of these meets should be encouraged in order to improve on the current education scenario of the country.
