The Delhi University north campus witnessed protests, which were led by the right-wing students and teachers organization against anti-national activities by "left-leaning" students.
As a protesting action against left-leaning students "Trinaga March" was held by The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). On the other hand, a dharna was organized by the Rashtravadi Shikshak Sangh, a teacher's body affiliated to the RSS.
The protestors, belonging largely to ABVP, marched from Ramjas College to the Arts Faculty as they hold a large Tricolor Flag and shouted the slogans of 'Vande Mataram.'
The protest marches were held as a sign of resistance against the clashing activities of the ABVP ad left wing All India Students Association (AISA) outside Ramjas College. AISA was trying to force the suspension of an event which was to be addressed by Umar Khalid, who was sent to jail in 2016 for shouting anti national slogans.
DUSU Vice President Priyanka Chhawari said "The march is in the solidarity with Ramjas students, who took a stand against people raising anti-national slogans and slogans about the freedom of Kashmir on February 22."
"What happened in JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University), we will not let it happen in DU," Delhi University Students' Union President Amit Tanwar, who is from the ABVP, said.
DUSU Vice President Priyanka Chhawari said "The march is in the solidarity with Ramjas students, who took a stand against people raising anti-national slogans and slogans about the freedom of Kashmir on February 22."
According to DU President of AISA, Kawalpreet Kaur, attacking everyone in the disguise of nationalism is an old habit of ABVP and all the current turmoil in DU has nothing to do with AISA party.
"ABVP never respected the Tri color flag but they continue to use it as a means to justify their senseless violence. They have done it in the past and they are doing the same now." another person said.
