A Brief Introduction
Widely known and regarded as the world’s top ranked University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was established in the year 1861 in Cambridge, USA due to the increased industrialisation in the country. According to the QS World University Rankings, this institute ranks at the 1st position and ‘Times’ ranks it at position number 5. The motto of the University is ‘Mind and Hand’. It is highly renowned for its courses in engineering, computer science, natural sciences, business, mathematics, economics and linguistics.
Campus
Spread across an area of 186 acres, the campus is located on the basin of the Charles river. The heart of the campus is the initial group of interconnecting buildings, designed to facilitate interaction and communication among MIT’s schools and departments. The campus has 18 residence halls, each with its own distinctive personality and community, 26 acres of playing fields and 20 gardens and green space areas.

Student Facilities
Life for students is very good at MIT. May sports like- six squash courts, an indoor track, and multi-activity courts for basketball, volleyball, and other IMs are available for students. Apart from this, personal trainers and other facilities are also available only for students. The other main student facility is the Stratton Student Centre it includes a large reading room, a small market, a post office, a barbershop, a dry cleaner’s, an arcade, and a copy shop. The facilities are aimed to improve students’ lifestyle and provide them with hangout places.
Accommodation
The University offers good accommodation with comfortable bedrooms for its students. They also have well maintained facilities, dining services, amazing meal plans. Most residential halls are either within the campus or at walking distance from the campus. These are:

Scholarships
The University of Cambridge offers a wide range of scholarships to its students. Also, MIT scholarships are based on merit for students who are in need of financial resources. These come from endowed funds, gifts from MIT alumni and friends, and general MIT funds. You are automatically considered for an MIT scholarship if you apply for financial aid and fill in a CSS profile.
