Brief Introduction
Established in 1876, it was the first American research University
ever. It was ranked 1st by Best
Global University Rankings. It has four campuses in Baltimore alone, and
may other international campuses across three continents. It boasts of are 1,315 research and other
educational activities taking place in more than 150 countries under its
umbrella.
Campus
Although the main campus is situated in Baltimore, the ten academic spanisions of Hopkins are spread out across ten campuses on three continents. These are as follows:
Baltimore - 4 campuses
Homewood – This campus has: Schools of Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Education.
East Baltimore – In this campus are: Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health and the John Hopkins Hospital., which is the highest rank hospital in the country.
Peabody – The oldest conservatory of America and home to the Peabody Institute.
Harboreast – home to the Carey Business School.
Outside Baltimore:
Washington, D.C. – home to SAIS, which also has campuses in Italy and China.
Montgomery County and Columbia, Maryland – home to a large number of regional satellite campuses.
Laurel, Maryland – home to Applied Physics Laboratory.
Homewood is, however, the prime campus. Spread over 140 acres, the campus is mainly home to undergraduates.

The University offers has more than 240 programs which are offered by various Schools of the University. There are 10 in total :
- School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS)
- Applied Physics Laboratory (the nation’s largest university-affiliated research centre)
- Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS)
- Carey Business School
- School of Education
- Whiting School of Engineering
- School of Medicine
- School of Nursing
- Peabody Institute (for musicians and dancers)
- Bloomberg School of Public Health
Courses
The University enrols around 21,000 students under full and part-time programs which are offered through 9 academic divisions. The faculty teaches students under more than 240 programs in the arts and music, the humanities, the social and natural sciences, engineering, international studies, education, business, and the health professions.

Accommodation
The University offers on campus lodging to its students. Apart rom that,
off campus suite style arrangements are also available. Off-campus living
arrangements are also easily accessible at the University. TheOff-Campus Housing Officeoffers
information and help on houses and apartments within walking distance from all
the four campuses in for rent.

Scholarships
The University is known to take in
bright, capable and deserving students regardless of their financial
background. In such cases, the students receive 100% scholarships. A large
number of scholarships are available:
·Academic Advising Scholarships
·The Hodson Trust Scholarship
·Charles R. Westgate Scholarship in Engineering
·Baltimore Scholars (for domestic students)
A Centre for Talented Youth is the place
where scholarships are given on the basis of merit and need. These, if granted,
cover the tuition fees and provide access to adivising and counselling. Apart
from these, fellowships and sponsorships are granted by the University to
domestic and international students alike.
