Lancaster University, also officially known as theUniversity of Lancaster,is apublicresearch universityin Lancaster, Lancashire,
England. The university was established byRoyal
Charterin 1964.The campus buildings are arranged around a
central walkway known as the Spine, which is connected to a centralplaza,
named Alexandra Square in honour of its firstchancellor. Lancaster is one of only sixcollegiate universities in the
UK; the colleges are weaklyautonomous.

County College is named afterLancashire
County Council, which financed its construction.

Tution Fees
EU students
Tuition fees to Home-EU undergraduate students on full year study abroad/work placements in line with the maximum amounts permitted by the Department for Business Innovation & Skills. The current maximum levels are:
- Students taking a year abroad (either as a study or work placement) under the Erasmus scheme –15% of the standard tuition fee (£1350)
- Students taking a year abroad outside of the Erasmus scheme –15% of the standard tuition fee (£1350)
- Students taking a work placement (either in the UK or abroad) that is not part of the Erasmus scheme –20% of the standard tuition fee (£1800)
Scholarship
University funding for scholarships is limited. Most scholarships take the form of a partial tuition fee reduction. Scholarships are awarded by academic departments.
