A Brief Introduction
Founded in 1834, the University of Bern is the third biggest University in Switzerland. Financed and regulated by the Canton of Bern, it is home to around 17,428 students.
The University is one of the top 200 Universities in the world. It ranked 145th in the 2014 QS World University Rankings and 151st-200th in the Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) 2014/2015.
The Leiden Ranking 2015 it ranked 122nd in the world and 50th in Europe, whereas the Times Higher Education Ranking 2014/2015 it ranked 132.
Campus
Unlike most Universities, the University of Bern does not ha a single campus. However, most of its instituted and clinics are in the Länggasse, the traditional university district adjoining the city centre, and within walking distance of one another.
The University of Bern is located in CH-3012 Bern, Switzerland. It is a comprehensive university offering a broad choice of courses and programs in eight faculties and some 150 institutes.
The University has won many awards for its intelligent, ecological and sustainable use of old buildings.
