Brief introduction
The Humboldt
University of Berlin is one
of Berlin's oldest universities, founded on 15 October 1811 as the University of Berlin (Universität zu Berlin) by the
liberal Prussian educational reformer and linguist Wilhelm von Humboldt.In 2012,
the Humboldt University of Berlin was one of eleven German universities to win
in the German Universities
Excellence Initiative, a national competition for
universities organized by the German Federal Government. The university has
educated 29 Nobel Prize
winner sand is considered one of the prestigious universities in
Europe as well as one of the most prestigious universities in the world for
arts and humanities.

Accommodation
Degree-seeking students: Please send an email to exchange-students@hu-berlin.deand
provide the following information: name, surname, sex, subject of study at the
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a valid e-mail address.
After the application deadline has ended you will receive further
information from us concerning the booking of an accommodation offer.
Additionally, you will be required to pay a 500
Euro reservation fee/deposit.
Places in student halls are distributed according to the “first
come first serve” principle. Please note that the date of receipt of
reservation fee/deposit on the HU bank account is decisive. Only after the
payment of this fee your reservation will be binding.
The minimum rental period
is 6 months
- for winter term: 01.09. –
28.02.
- for summer term: 01.03. –
31.08.
It is not possible to shorten or change the rental period.

Scholarships
In order to help you
finance your studies in Germany, there are some organizations offering
scholarships. The biggest organization in this area is Deutscher Akadamescher Austausch Dienst (DAAD). The DAAD is one of the best and least complicated ways to
obtain a scholarship.
The DAAD has over 80
scholarships in their search results when looking for funding
for a graduate program in Economics. Their search function allows you to narrow
those results with information like country of origin, and keywords for
specific programs.
