Accommodation
The two main accommodation are:
The university residences (CROUS)
The types of CROUS accommodation (indicative
rates):The traditional furnished type of room of 9 m², with washbasin.
Toilets, shower and kitchen are shared. Average cost: 150 € per month.
A furnished room of 12 m² with its own toilet and shower. Shared
kitchen facilities. Average cost: 300 € per month.
A furnished appartment 'studio' for one person of 12-14 m² with
its own toilet, shower and kitchen facilities. Average cost: 380 € per month
(plus electricity).
·The private rental sector
The types of accommodation in the private sector:
Private-sector student residencesoffer furnished apartments of between 18 and 30 m² with their
own toilet, shower and kitchenette.
Average cost: 450 to 600 € per month (plus service charges).
A furnished room in a private home with shared
bathroom and kitchen. Average cost: 300 € per month (including all charges).
A 20 m² apartment:
average cost: 400 to 500 €
Sharing a rental (colocation) with other
persons (colocataires). This is a way of sharing both the rental costs and service
charges.
Tution Fees
French tuition costs arefixed by the
statefor all public
universities, including the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). The majority of
degree programs cost under €200 per year for undergraduates, and just over €250
annually for master’s students. In addition, students contribute at a lower
rate to France’s health care system, the sécurité sociale, paying less that
€250 per academic year for coverage.
In addition, students with fewer financial
means can obtain abourse sur
critères sociaux, paying even lower tuition, and receiving
support for housing and other costs and additional specific aid for study
abroad. Students who are not French may also be eligible if they have lived or
worked in France, or if they are refugees.
Cost
of living
Students enjoy reduced rates for transport, meals, sports,
and cultural and arts events.Renting a bikecosts only €132 a year –
even less if you’re under 25 – andmonthly tram/bus passesfor students under 25
are only €15. With a meal card, a complete meal on campus costs as little as
€3.50.
