A Brief Introduction
Founded in 1479, the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) (Danish: Københavns Universitet), is the oldest university and research institution in Denmark. It is also the second oldest institution for higher education in Scandinavia after Uppsala University (1477).
Along with the likes of Cambridge, Yale University, The Australian National University, and UC Berkeley, the University is a member of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU).
It is ranked 69th in the 2015 QS World University Rankings and 26th in Europe.
Campus
Located in Copenhagen, Denmark, the University is spread across 4 campuses around Copenhagen. The main headquarters of the University is situated in central Copenhagen.
Although most of the courses are taught in Danish, there are many courses are also offered in English and a few in German. The university has several thousands of foreign students, about half of whom come from Nordic countries.

Accommodation
The University of Copenhagen Housing Foundation offers 2 different types of accommodation for students - halls of residence and shared apartments.
Private housing for students and staff is also available.
Cost of living
These are rough estimates of what it costs a single person to live in Copenhagen:
Housing, including utilities: typically DKK 4,500 - 7,000/month
Food and daily expenses: DKK 1,500 - 2,500/month
Books and other study materials: DKK 1,500-2,000/semester
Local public transportation: DKK 600-1,000/month if you travel every day
- Leisure activities: DKK 2,000/month
To save money, we recommend that you consider buying a used bicycle, which you can get for around DKK 800-1,500.
Tipping is only customary in Denmark when service has been particularly good. Taxi fares and restaurant bills include service charges.
Tuition fees in Denmark
Higher education in Denmark is free for students from the EU/EEA ,Switzerland and for students participating in an exchange program.
For other students the annual tuition range is from 6,000 to 16,000 Euro.
