A Brief Introduction
Founded in 1972, the Roskilde University (Danish: Roskilde Universitet, abbreviated RUC or RU) is situated Trekroner in the Eastern part of Roskilde.
The University enjoys a reputation for it’s out of the box thinking and adopting creative, new methods to research and interdisciplinary studying. The University’s strong point which attracts many students is the focus it has on project work and problem based learning.
The university awards bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and Ph.D. degrees in a wide variety of subjects within social science, the humanities, and natural science.

Courses
The University offers higher education at undergraduate and post graduate levels. The main areas are : humanities, humanistic technologies, social science and science.
Traditionally, the setup at the University was 2 years in one main scientific area and 4 years of specialization in the same. Now, the University follows the general education structure, i.e., three years of bachelor studies qualifying for a two-year master study.
Roskilde University has 4 departments (institutes) specializing in very different areas from Mathematics to International Development:

Cost of Living
In terms of living expenses, it is difficult to predict how much money you will need. To give you an idea of average monthly expenses, here is a rough budget:
Housing DKK 3000-4000 (€ 400-535)
Food DKK 1500-2000 (€ 200-270)
Transportation DKK 300-1100 (€ 40-150)
Books DKK 450-600 (€ 60-80)
In total, you must expect to use approximately DKK 8,000 per month, but it depends on your personal standards, lifestyle and requirements.
Tuition Fees
All guest students (international) are expected to pay a tuition fee. The tuition depends on your citizenship, type of residence permit to Denmark, and your choice of studies at Roskilde University.
