A Brief Introduction
One of the oldest and most elite institutions for higher education in China, the Nanjing University is the most selective University of China, and is widely known as the most difficult to get in. Placed amongst some of the most distinguished Universities in the world, the University is constantly ranked among the best universities in the world by Shanghai Jiaotong University Academic Ranking, Times Higher Education and QS.
In 2015, Nature Index ranked it 3rd in China, 5th in Asia Pacific, 28th in the world. International students are an integral part of the University, creating and atmosphere of diversity and dynamic cultures.
Campus
The University has two main campuses: Gulou and Xianlin, around 18 kms from one another. Apart from these two, a Pukou campus is also there.
Nanjing University has two main campuses: Gulou and Xianlin, and besides, there is Pukou campus.
Gulou campus
Located in Gulou District, the Gulou district is divided into two sections by Hankou Road: North Garden, Bei Yuan, which is where teaching and research takes place and South Garden, Nan Yuan, the living area for both students and staff.
Xianlin campus
Situated in the northeast of Nanjing, this campus is located south of Yangtse River and Qixia Mountain, east of Purple Mountain, and west of Baohua Mountain. It is home to mainly undergraduate and some graduate students. A stop on Line 2 connects Xialin and Gulou campus through subway.
Pukou campus
Located in the suburban of Pukou district, this campus became part of the University in 1993. It hosts freshmen, sophomore and junior students. The campus is home to Jinling College, an independent body, which was initially founded by the University itself.

The University offers several programs at undergraduate and graduate levels:
Currently, there are more than 12,000 who are pursuing their Bachelor’s degree at the University across more than 78 different programs. These programs are formed with the aim to provide in-depth knowledge by some specialized courses as well as basic knowledge of general courses. The faculty is known to be highly dedicated, with many distinguished professors teaching several fundamental courses.
The University offers Master’s and Doctoral programs in a large range of disciplines. They provide students with specialized training to increase and realize full potential for academic and professional experience.

On-campus accommodation:
International students who come to the University as part of international exchange programs may apply for on campus dormitories in Gulou or Pukou campuses. The facilities include: laundry service, Internet cafe, restaurant and a gym with ping pong tables.
The dormitories are standard single or double rooms, each equipped with telephone lines, private bathrooms, television and air-conditioning.

Those coming from the universities of groups that have cooperative or exchange relations with Nanjing University pay their tuition and accommodation on favorable terms according to the agreements.
Tuition Payment Regulation
Self-paying students should pay their tuition with cash at Institute for International Students during the registration and enrolment at the beginning of every semester. They can pay tuition either by semester or by school year.
