More than 15,000 meritorious students from the Assam state were presented with the Anundoram Barooah Award for securing more than 75 percent marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent exams in the state.
The awards were presented by Chief Minister Sonowal who asked the students to utilize the power of digital media in their academics.
“Knowledge is power and in this age of globalization, information technology has significantly altered many aspects of life and students must take maximum benefit of the digital medium in their academic life,” Sonowal said.
He also advised students to stay away from the harmful activities online and about the traps of the cyber-crime.
Under the Anundoram Barooah Award students are felicitated with the free internet for two years along with the course curriculum in text, audio and video format for the arts, commerce and science streams.
Students also get access to the free high quality preparatory material software which helps them in preparing for the engineering and medical competitive exams.
Sonowal further stated "the future of the nation depends on the development of young minds and the youth should work in harmony, transparency and integrity".
