The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education said that mobile phones were seized from four Madhyamik examinees who were appearing for the class 10th exams.
The board further said that students will not be allowed to sit for further exams. The mobile phones were seized in West Burdwan, North 24 Parganas, Coochbehar and Malda districts.
As per the rules, no mobile phones are allowed inside exam center. The mobile phones were seized from the students during the exam on February 19. The authorities have suspended internet services in some areas near the exam centers to prevent any malpractices. However, the officials said that there are no reports of history paper being circulated on WhatsApp.
During the first three days of the examination, purported images of Bengali, English and Geography question papers were shared on WhatsApp shortly after the start of the exams but the Board claimed there was no leak of question papers.
