A short course on journalism in Sanskrit will be launched soon by The Indian Institute of Mass Communication and Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit (LBSRS) Vidyapeetha.
The announcement about the course was made by IIMC Director General K G Suresh on the occasion of institute's national day. The duration of the course will be of three month time.
Suresh told that language skills will be provided to the students by LBSRS Vidyapeetha and students will be trained by the IIMC institute in the skills of the journalism.
"We are now promoting this as a three-month certificate program. It will not be conducted by IIMC, but our department will be taking the journalism part of it," he said.
"Sanskrit media is in the evolutionary process. There are people interested in it. People who are aspiring to be journalists also have to be equipped. We will provide them training at our community radio station," said Suresh.
He also told media that the courses in Journalism were also launched in Marathi and Malayalam at the regional centers of the IIMC institute and the demand for such courses is great.
The journalism course in Sanskrit was approved by the IIMC's executive council in the last meeting and the details of the program are being worked out as of now.
