Mr. Bhagat was speaking at the launch of India ,Srilanka operations of Canadian developed MAD Science in Pune on Thursday; he added that sci"ence was not just about getting marks, it was a discovery and a way of thinking. Bhagat delineated various is"sues in Indian education. He emphasized points that children in India would do well to remember.
He said that students today needed five skills - having necessary reasoning ability, confidence, knowing English and using the language expressively, possessing knowledge of busi"ness and money and knowing how to market one self.
"Effective lobbying will lead to a change in policies and bring about educational reforms. Curriculum revision is needed to bring about effective changes in education system. Private players should be brought into the education sec"tor and should be allowed to make profits," said Bhagat.
