Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) completely rejected the proposal of including the teachings of Quran in school syllabus. The idea was proposed by the government of Pakistan.
Earlier the idea was to include the teachings of Quran up till class 10th.
Under the idea "the ministry of federal education and professional training" has sent some books which contain Quran verses and their translation for the purpose of selection to the CII.
CII members said that too many lacunas were present in the books thereby rejecting the proposal altogether.
