In an attempt tp promote affordable online education in India, Prakash Javadekar, Human Resource Development Minister told that government is making full efforts to offer 2000 online courses through the online platform- Swayam, which is an indigenously developed platform.
"Currently, 380 courses are offered through this platform and this will be enhanced to 2,000 courses in one year," he said after inauguration of a week-long Teachers Workshop at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here.
The platform was launched by the Indian government last year and by now more than 60,000 students have completed their courses through the platform. The platform is specifically made to provide high quality education on school, graduate and post graduate levels.
In order to promote the initiate more so that it can reach more people of the nation, a week long teacher's workshop is being hosted by the Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), Ministry of Finance.
The lectures in the workshop will be delivered by the Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian related to various aspects of Indian Economy based on the latest last three surveys. Not only this, but also, other topics such as history of Indian economic development and the current progress, challenges and the strategies to move forward will also be covered in the workshop.
