“There would be no dearth in the leadership of the Nalanda
University” said an official spokesperson of the University on Saturday.
The answer came after a media queries about the leadership
at the Nalanda University, since the term of present Vice Chancellor Dr. Gopa
Sabharwal is ending on 24th Nov’2016.
The VC said in the statement that “There is no hiatus in the
leadership of the university and the members of the university should rest
assured”.
A letter of request has been written by the University to
the present VC, requesting her to continue as the interim VC till the new VC is
appointed. The Chancellor and the Governing Board have put on record high regard
of Dr. Sabharwal and wanted to recommend her reappointment.
VC Gopa Sabharwal’s term had ended in November 2015 and her
term was extended for one year as per the university norms.
Nalanda University began its first session in 2014 in Rajgir
town in a make shift campus.
