BJP in Puducherry has completely supported the decision taken at the
center to select students for the medical courses on the basis of National Eligibility
cum Entrance Test (NEET). Through a resolution, the government also appealed to
continue to select the students through Centralised Admission Committee
(CETAC).
In a press release, the party’s local unit President Mr. V
Saminathan said that the center also prevents private medical colleges to take
hefty amounts from the aspirants of medical colleges. He also added that the
Congress party was also making a move to exempt Puducherry from NEET based
selection.
The reason behind this was that Congress was allowing the private
players in this field to collect hefty fees from the medical aspirants.
After the center has decided to select students for the medical
courses 2017-18 academic years on the basis of NEET, UGC has reduced the number
of attempts for NEET to 3. Furthermore, the tradition of booking seats in
advance is also put to an end.
