When NEET was introduced, its purpose was to make it the
single medical entrance test in the country for most of the colleges. This aim
is now coming nearer to realization with the authorities now deciding that the
AIPVT (All India Pre Veterinary Test) 2017 would now take place through 2017
NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).
This change is of great significance to all the medical
aspirants in the country.
The Veterinary Council of India came out with an official
notification in this regard and announced that it intends to use the NEET 2017
UG merit for the purpose of allocating seats to all the veterinary colleges
across the country, apart from the colleges located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The admissions to the students on the basis of the NEET
merit list will be given to the AH and BVSc course as part of the 15% India
wide quota. The notification released by the Council also says that the VCI won’t
conduct the AIPVT 2017.
As per the notification, the application must be a minimum
of 17 years old as of 31st December 2017. Those belonging to the
reserved category have been given an age relaxation of 5 years.
With the date of examination (7 May) approaching and the
NEET issue still being discussed in the Apex court, all eyes are on the
judiciary to resolve the pending issues between the authorities and the
students.
