On July 30, 2016 Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia declared a 'Mega parent-teacher meet' for all the government schools. The initiative saw a whopping number of parents of around 16 lakh students studying in over 2,500 government schools in the national capital today as they attended the event.
This was the first initiative of this kind in country for government schools. Everything from bad handwriting to poor calculations, improper usage of grammar to lack of concentration, good speed to excellent leadership skills, parents were updated about shortcomings and positives of their wards in the meeting, perhaps the first in country for government schools. As the event turned into a big success, Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Sisodia on social media by tweeting, "Congrats Manish for organising Mega PTM in Govt. schools. Very heart warming stories coming from various schools."
Manish Sisodia himself visited several schools to keep a check whether the proceedings were going well in order or not. After the event, he wrote an open letter as a vote of thanks for all the parents who visited the schools and made this event a huge success. In his letter he wrote, "The main motive behind such a parent teacher meeting was to establish a direct communication between the teacher and the parent for the better grooming of the student. There is no dearth of talent in the teachers of our school but there were only a few problems related to the arrangements and the environment of study. In the last one year we have provided several facilities and built a suitable atmosphere for studying in government schools. We promise you to provide a better atmosphere and facilities in the government schools than that of private schools. For this we have taken several steps as we are providing training to principals and teachers at an international level."
He also requested the parents as he said, "We will have to work in cooperation. I am trying my level best to provide better facilities and environment for study while you (parents) will have to ensure that he adopts good and noble things and avoids the ill-practices of the society. A separate budget was sanctioned for the mega PTMs."
Parents of these students studying in government schools gave a positive feedback about this initiative. They were happy about the fact that they get to know about the child`s behavior and performance in school. Brainbuxa will keep you updated on more such news across the nation.
