ICAI declared the results of Charted Accountancy, final stage examination 2016 on Monday. Two of the students topped the list.
S.Sri Ram secured first rank with 76.63 per cent marks and was the topper among males. Chennai girl, Shilpa K. Murthy emerge as the best lady candidate in the examination. While the second and the third spot were secured by, Kantheti Naga and Yash Manoj Kumar Goyal respectively.
According to the official statistics of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), 37,194 candidates appeared for Group I examination out of which just 5,382 passed. In the Group II examinations where, out of 36,906 candidates, as many as 7,864 were declared passed. And also, 41,727 candidates were declared passed out of 1,07,058 who appeared in the Common Proficiency Test as the results were declared.
Topper S Sriram hails from Tamil Nadu's Salem district. His father K V Srinivasan is a retired Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation employee and his mother R Badma is the district library officer in Perambalur. On the news that he topped the examination, he said, "This is my first attempt, and I had prepared well and was expecting to clear both groups as well as getting a rank within 10. Most of the students procrastinate and rush through the books in the last four or five months. But I resolved to study at least two hours every day in a consistent manner."Ram has not made a decision about whether he wants to take up a corporate job or start professional practice.
In an interview, Shilpa K. Murthy said, "My parents are Chartered Accountants and I grew a fascination to the subject. My mother was my greatest inspiration. Numbers and maths excite me." Her mother added, "Shilpa was a school topper both in her Class X and Class XII examinations, securing All India Rank 10 in her Chartered Accountancy Entrance (CPT) examination and All India Rank 3 in her Company Secretary Executive (Inter) examination. She simultaneously finished her bachelors in commerce through correspondence."
