On Thursday, the Maharashtra Legislator demanded five-day working week for the teachers and other staffers of schools, junior and senior colleges as well. On Wednesday, the Maharashtra government announced five-day working week for the state government employees. The new system will be applicable from February 29 onward.
Kapil Patil, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from teachers constituency, has written a letter to education minister Varsha Gaikwad and demanded five -day working week week for schools, junior colleges and senior colleges with an aim to reduce burden on teachers and professors. He said that the extra off-day can be used by the teachers to better prepare for the upcoming lectures.
