LIBA instituted the Mother Terasa Award for Corporate Citizen in 1998. The jury shortlisted six companies: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), Sobha Developers Ltd, Cognizant Technology Solutions Ltd, Tata Chemicals Ltd, Hindustan Zinc Ltd & Marg Ltd who made the final presentation on Jan 12th 2012.
Mr. N. Gopalaswami I.A.S (retd) Former Chief Election Commissioner, Govt. of India, while giving away the oration speech said, "CSR is in fact a subset of Corporate Ethics and unless the Corporates follow ethical practices, any CSR, howsoever well done, would at best be a window-dressing. It is therefore the responsibility of all Corporate Citizens not to stop with CSR but lay a strong foundation for corporate ethics within their companies. Only then we could truly say and with pride that we are Responsible Corporate Citizens".
During his welcome address Fr. Christie, SJ, Director LIBA stated that "LIBA is the only B school in India to recognize companies who demonstrate social commitment and commendable involvement in programmes of CSR far beyond the call of duty. LIBA takes pride in recognizing the company that has shown exemplary commitment to the ideals of corporate citizenship"
