On Sunday, the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) said that it would expand its reach to other including Bangladesh. KISS provides free education to the tribal students in Odisha from kindergarten to post-graduation.
It's founder Achyuta Samanta said “A KISS centre for poor children is expected to start functioning at Kolkata from next year”. The institute has entered into an agreement with a Kolkata based NGO and will run a center for 1000 poor children in the metropolis from the session 2020.
KISS was declared as a deemed to be university last year by the HRD ministry and will start a center in Jharkhand from 2020. The Jharkhand cabinet has already approved 20 acres of land for the institute. KISS also runs a center for 600 street children in Delhi and plans to do the same in the states of Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Along with this, it will also start two centers in Bangladesh. One for the girls from class 1 to 10 in Jassore and another for the boys in Dhaka.
"The KISS provides poor tribal students free food,lodging and education from KG to PG. We also provide them jobs after completion of education," Mr Samanta said.
