A special postal cover was released at the District Level Philately Exhibition- "Kalindi 2017" at Jamia; cover depicts picture of the university
Jamia Millia Islamia University, founded in 1920 has contributed greatly in the field of education over the years. To mark the centenary celebrations of the university, the Postal Department issued a special postal cover yesterday featuring a picture of Jamia Millia Islamia.
The postal cover marking the centenary celebrations was released at the District Level Philately Exhibition- "Kalindi 2017" at Jamia. The exhibition was organised by the Ministry of Communications and presided over by L.N. Sharma, Chief Postmaster General of Delhi Circle. The special cover on the Jamia Millia was priced at Rs. 10 and was put on display and sale along with other old stamps during the exhibition.
In an official statement, the department has said that the objective of this exhibition was to showcase to the general public, especially the youth, the cultural and educational aspects of philately (the hobby of stamp collection) as well as to facilitate expansion of friendly relations and cooperation among postal staff, philatelists, philatelic dealers and the media.
