50th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) was concluded and four Indian students have bagged two gold and two silver medals in the competition. The Olympiad was held in Bratislava in Slovakia and Prague in the Czech Republic.
Dhyey Sankalp Gandhi from Vadodara and Jishnu Basavaraju from Hyderabad bagged the gold medal for the nation while Sanchit Agarwal from Delhi and
Aayush Kadam from Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh bring in the silver medal.
India took part in the competition for the 20th year and so far the nation has won a total of 80 medals in the Olympiad. The competition consists of theoretical and experimental exams.
Before selecting the students for the IChO exam, they are screened in three stages. In the first stage, around 56,000 students appear for the written exam and in the next two stages, the final selection of the students is done by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), which is the nodal center for the science Oylmpiad.
