This year, students registering for Central Board of
Secondary Education (CBSE) exams are the highest in the history of the exam as
over 25 lakh students register themselves its 6.3% more than last year's
registration.
In 2015, 13,73,853 students registered for the Class X (both
Board-based and school-based) exams and this year it's a total of 14,99,122
candidates, i.e. an increase of almost 1.25 lakh. For class XII, 10,67,900
candidates have registered as against 10,40,368 in 2015. Class X and XII board
exams will begin from March 1 and end on March 28 and April 22, respectively.
As per K K Chaudhary, controller of examinations, CBSE, it's
Delhi that has registered the highest number of candidates-2.9 lakh for Class X
and 2.7 lakh for Class XII boards. Panchkula region registered the second
highest number of candidates, followed by Ajmer. There are 10 regions under
CBSE. He explained the increase by saying that there has been an increase in
the number of schools getting affiliated to CBSE and middle level schools
upgraded to secondary level increasing the registrations.
For class X, CBSE affiliated schools are 15,309 with
Panchkula having the highest number of schools. For Class XII Boards, there are
10,121 schools. A total of 3,747 centers will conduct the exams.
Apparently, differently able candidates registering
themselves are 4781 in number, out of which 2,860 for Class X and 1,921 for
Class XII. 2287 students are from Delhi region. The group comprises mostly
physically-handicapped students, followed by visually-impaired and dyslexics,
respectively.
Free tele counseling sessions have been started by CBSE
which will continue till April 22nd with 76 principals as well as trained
counsellors from CBSE-affiliated government and private schools and a few
psychologists addressing the issues.
This counseling is available for differently abled children
as spastic, visually impaired, physically handicapped, dyslexic, autistic and
candidates with disabilities are permitted to use a scribe or allowed
compensatory time-60 minutes for a paper of three hours duration.
