The high court of Tamil Nadu has asked the state government
to include 3 educational experts in the panel constituted by the state government
to look into the issues, including the minimum land requirement, relating to
746 unauthorized schools.
The court pointed out that the panel constituted by the
state only comprises of the bureaucrats who man department persons concerned
with the education but are not educational experts.
The high court has directed the state to include 3
educational experts into the committee formed by the state government earlier.
The 3 educational experts will now look into the report submitted by the bureaucrats.
The directive of the court comes after a PIL was lodged by Director
of an NGO, Change India, A Narayanan. The PIL was filed to quash a government
order of August 2015.
The PIL wanted that directive should be given to close all
unauthorized schools by the end of the year 2015-16. The students of these
schools should be placed in the neighboring government/government aided/unaided
schools so as to enable them to continue their education in recognized schools.
