Over 90 schools in Delhi claimed in the Delhi HC that as per the orders of the court they have refunded the 75 percent excess fees charged by them.
Another 20 schools said that they will do the same within a period of two days to two weeks.
The recommendation of refunding the extra fees to the students was made by the Justice Anil Dev Singh Committee, which was set up by the HC.
It is said that the schools which have deposited the excessive fees within the time frame stated by the court will be protected from any coercive actions only after their claims have been verified by the Directorate of Education (DoE).
The bench has asked the DoE to verify the claims of the deposits made by the school and inform the court on October 27, the next date of the hearing.
On September 6, the court directed the private schools, which failed to refund the excess fee charged by them, to deposit 75 percent of the principal amount within the 14 days to avoid any coercive action.
The court had directed the schools to deposit the amount in the form of "cash, fix deposits receipts or bank guarantees favouring the Registrar General" in the High Court Registry.
