On Friday, Centre for Human Rights and Duties (CHRD) at Panjab University started a new lecture series in which Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi talked about the ramifications of the technology in the digital age.
Joshi spoke about the revolution in the technology and stressed on how the overuse and reliance on the social media in day to day life in proving harmful not only for the students but for everyone. He said that technology must be used to help the underprivileged, differently-abled and marginalized sections of society and we Indians are in dire need of digital detox because of the overuse of the social media.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar also addressed the students and stressed that young minds should take part in the research for the holistic growth of the society and the nation. He also said that on the one hand technology has made the connection between people very easy and on the other hand it has reduced the physical contact among the people. The V-C also shared his vision for the university in the fields of artificial intelligence, cyber security and for establishing a disability resource center for the differently-abled students.
