The students of the vocational course healthcare sciences can now seek admissions for the BA,BSc,BBA and Home Science degree courses after Class XII based on the directives of Indian nursing council of the Goa Board of secondary and higher secondary education and the Goa University.
The need for skilled workforce in the field of healthcare services had initiated the healthcare sciences vocational course at +2 level.
Aiming to create a multi-skilled workforce for the growth of health industry the course was started by generating employability skills such as meticulous attention, comfortable use of equipment, interpersonal skills and patient dealing skills.
To provide a vertical mobility for the students of this vocational course that offers a range of exciting and challenging opportunities, admissions can be sought in the above mentioned courses
Biology; anatomy and physiology; food, nutrition and dietetics; hospital organization and services; health education, communication and public relations and public health are some subjects that are learnt in the vocational courses at Class XI and XII.
Basic concepts of health and disease and medical terminology, first aid and emergency medical care, etc. are also learnt.
The Goa Board Circular issued in February states that vertical mobility has been granted to the students who pass their higher secondary examinations of Goa board and have a vocational course 'health care assistant' with changed nomenclature as 'healthcare sciences'.
