Recalling Swami Vivekananda's teachings, Shri Pranab Mukherjee called upon the people of the nation to take part in nation building and work for the betterment of those who are socially deprived.
He was at the Kalahandi district in Odisha for the inauguration of 'Vivekananda Memorial Hall' at the campus of Shree Ramakrishna Ashrama. He remarked "Swami Vivekananda had pointed out that a country's future depends on its people and the education they receive. Everyone should work for the socially deprived people to build our nation,"
The president highlighted the contributions of Swami Vivekananda to the Indian history and said that his most important learning from Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was the lesson of 'Jiva is Shiva'.
He added that "Swami Vivekananda taught that people should be served looking upon them as manifestations of god. By establishing numerous facilities to provide education and healthcare for the tribal population, especially children and youth, the ashram is implementing his thoughts and teachings,"
He shared his concern regarding the backwardness of the region and showered praise on its glorious past of the region. He spoke highly of the great work done by the ashram for the welfare of the tribal people of the area.
