Faculty members have been invited by the Indian Government for the temporary transfer to the Thailand based Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). This is a temporary transfer of an official worker to another position or may be to another employment.
The temporary transfer will remain for the period of 16 weeks and is completely backed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. This program falls under the category of the Externally Aided Projects or International Collaboration (EAPIC) and all the deemed universities and other important institutions in India have been asked by MHRD to send the nominations.

The entire cost of the program including both way travelling and maintenance cost will be covered by the Government of India. The faculties are entitled for the pay plus special pay, if any, and for allowances. They will be paid in India in Indian currency.
Ties between Govt. of India and AIT
AIT is post-graduation institute which provide advance education in engineering science and allied fields. The government of India supports AIT by the secondment of Indian faculty to AIT for 16 weeks in particular areas of specialization and reimburses Rs. 33 lakh to the seconded faculty every year. Government of India also provides funds AIT for the purchase of Indian Equipment, books and journals on per year basis. The India Ambassador to Thailand serves on the board of Trustees of AIT.
