In a response to a question, HRD Ministry revealed to Rajya Sabha that the dropout rate among the girls is less as compared to the boys on secondary education level. Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for HRD
Upendra Kushwaha said, “Annual average dropout rate of girls is 16.88 per cent, which is less than the dropout rate of boys of 17.21 per cent”.
As compared to 2009-2010, the enrollment of the students at the elementary level has improved. Right to Education (RTE) was implemented in 2009 and since then since then the admissions in the schools at elementary levels have gone up from 18.87 crore to 19.67 crore. These stats were revealed by the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) 2015-16.
According to the numbers revealed by the UDISE, the transition rate from class 8 to class 9 is 90.62 percent.
The Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) at the secondary level is 80.97 percent and among the boys it is 79.16 percent.
