CAT (Common Admission Test) used by the IIMs and other premier Indian institutes for MBA admissions, is one of the most sought after exams in the nation. If you were planning to appear for this exam this year, this news pertains you.
The last date for CAT application was extended for the candidates and was set at 27th September, which makes today the last day to apply for the CAT exam.
Originally, the deadline for the application form was 22nd September. As per this year̢s CAT convenor, "The main reason for the extension is to facilitate applicants in this stage, and we have been getting a lot of requests from them."
Till 22nd September, about 2.08 aspirants had applied for CAT 2016. This number is much higher than the number of applications received last year.
Last year, the total number of aspirants applying for the exam was close to 1.83 lakh.
About CAT exam
The CAT exam tests the students in a number of areas including Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. Some of the most well known institutes for MBA in the country, including the IIMs, IITs and IISc consider CAT scores of the candidates.
This year̢s CAT, to be conducted by IIM Bangalore, will be a 3 hour computer based test and is expected to contain 100 questions. The candidate would have a 1 hour time limit for each of the sections of the test. The marking pattern for the exams is +4 for a correct answer and -1 for an incorrect answer.
