Scholarships play a major role in encouraging students to take up courses of their choice and fulfil their dreams. One of the best known of them is the Great Britain Scholarship – India whose 2017 edition was recently announced. As per the announcement, as many as 29 undergraduate scholarships and 169 postgraduate scholarships would be offered to the students of various disciplines including art and design, engineering, management and law.
The British Council made an announcement regarding the Great Britain Scholarships – India 2017. This scholarship is worth a total of 1 million dollars and it offered in order to entice the Indian students to come to the UK.
As per Mei – kwei Barker, the South India Director of British Council, “198 scholarships in subject areas ranging from art and design to engineering, law and management are on offer for students aspiring to study in the UK. UK provides the truly international education experience for students and presently five lakh overseas students are studying in the United Kingdom."
The British Council plans to host an exhibition in Hyderabad under the theme ‘Study UK: Discover You’ for all those aspirants who are looking to explore education related opportunities in the UK. In this exhibition, representatives from more than 20 UK Universities would be present to answer questions on applications, choices, visas, scholarships and other aspects of education in the UK.
About bringing UK’s one year Master’s programme to India, Barker said, "In the UK, the courses are more intense. That course is recognised across the world with the UK universities we are in contact with them to try to work out through with the Indian government. But, it is recognised across the world and it is recognised in private industry."
