Congratulating the Times Group for setting up Bennett University in a record 16 months, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said that "he was both proud and happy that the UP government had been able to disprove claims that governments tend to work slowly."
Inaugurating Bennett University from his official residence in Lucknow, Akhilesh said, "When I met Times Group managing director Vineet Jain and he told me he wanted to set up a university in UP, I was not sure whether it would be completed on time. Today, it has probably created a world record. Many people complain that governments work slowly. In the case of Bennett University, work was done exceedingly fast. For this, I must congratulate the bureaucracy, the government machinery, and also the governor, without whose approval this would not have been possible. I also want to say that if your university can come up this quick, the Samajwadi Agra-Lucknow expressway, and the Lucknow and Noida Metros are also being built in record time."
The CM also said "he was happy that the Times Group had chosen UP for setting up Bennett University instead of any other state in India." Advising students to make their on-campus stay memorable, Akhilesh also said "he hoped they would do the society and nation proud."
