21 year old Paridhi Verma stunned the whole campus of IIM Lucknow when she received a job offer during the placement drive.Paridhi Verma has acute visual impairment but her accomplishment during the placement drive left many job seekers stunned.
"Yes, I have a disability. I suffer from macular degeneration with visual impairment up to 90%," she confirmed.She has received an offer to work as a customer relationship executive at a micro-finance bank and thinks that it is a good break for anyone who likes to pursue their career in the banking industry.
"With 10% vision, I may have to take a slightly different path than the others. Macular degeneration is a very rare disease and occurs in one in seven lakh people. It is incurable and progressive in my case," she added.
One girl against all odds
Himanshu Rai, a professor at IIM Lucknow said that the girl symbolizes resilience and persistence She has managed to continue her education with help of readers and scribes to clear all her examinations.
Miss verma said, "Normally, in an examination, one writes his/her own destiny. In my case, my destiny was in the writer's hand. I consider myself lucky that I received a wholehearted support from my well-wishers since
childhood. "
She was also the youngest student of her batch when at the age of 19 she got admission in IIML .Being thankful to her parents Verma said, "I am a single child. My parents never let me go to any kind of special
institution; instead they chose to make me study in regular reputed schools."
