Ever since the AAP has assumed power in the national capital, it has brought a lot of changes in the education system, keeping the welfare of the students in their mind. Now, in the latest move, the government has decided to introduce a mobile application in order to help the members of the SMCs (School management committees) with all their functions.
There are a total of 16 members in the SMCs. Each SMC comprises of 12 parents of the students studying in the school, one teacher, a social activist, an MLA and a principal.
Last year, when the government was planning to overhaul the education system of the national capital, it had directed all the SMCs (School Management committees) to make sure that they give a much bigger role to the parents of the students when it comes to the day to day functioning of the schools.
As per an official in the Delhi government who works in the education sector, "The SMC app will not only provide a virtual platform to the management bodies to connect with the members and be updated on issues pertaining to the functioning of the schools but also act as a record maintenance tool."
The application would be available for use of the members of the SMCs, apart from the officials working in the Directorate of Education and the other concerned departments.
