Jammu University has been awarded A+ grade by NAAC. The
National Assessment & Accreditation Council is an autonomous organization
established by UGC.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, Directorate of Internal
Quality Assurance said that “ Jammu University joins the elite class of
universities with A+ grade (Cycle III 2009-2016) with CGPA of 3.51”. She also
added that “JU had volunteered to be assessed and accredited for the third time
(Cycle III).
The National Assessment & Accreditation Council with its
headquarters in Bangalore is an autonomous body funded by Union Grants
Commission (UGC) of Government of India. The primary objective of the council
is to assess and accredit higher institutions in India.
The assessment and accreditation is done by team of eminent
academicians and academic administrators. NAAC first selects the Universities
to accredit and then sends a team to collect information about the university.
The collected information is than validated by the team of experts.
NAAC team had visited JU in September’2016.
Dr.
Kilam said that “The success of JU is because of the personal and regular
monitoring of NAAC assessment process”.
