Out of the 9.24 lakh candidates, 1.19 lakh are graduates, 14,562 are post graduates, 9,629 are engineers and 12 hold a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) according to the data records of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), which will conduct the examination for admittance of 14,000 suitable constables.
Over 5 lakh youth, who have just passed higher secondary or class 12, have also been recorded as the applicants for the post. 3,438 diploma holders have also applied for the post.
There are about 2.58 lakh aspirants belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, who have passed class 8 and above, as the eligibility criteria settled for them is low.
"Our job is to conduct the examination. The analysis of the profile of applicants is beyond our mandate," Director of MPPEB, Bhaskar said when asked to elaborate on the profile of these degree holders
The examination has been scheduled to be conducted on July 17, 2016.
The minimum qualification for application to the post is intermediate or class 12.
The post would offer the selected candidates a salary in the pay band of Rs 5,200 to Rs 20,200 with an additional grade pay of Rs 1,900 per month.
In the past years also, over qualified candidates have applied for jobs with low profile. Even in the year 2015, out of the 6.1 lakh plus candidates who had applied for the post of forest guard (Vanrakshak), more than 12,000 were engineers. Over 1.17 lakh graduates, 23,416 post graduates and 34 with PhD degrees had applied for the post of forest guards. There were 3.35 lakh higher secondary and 1.17 lakh high school qualified aspirants for the post, as per the MPPEB data.
