The water levels in Kerala have started to recede but the state is far
from recovering from the shock and calamity that nature has struck them with.
The calamity has displaced millions of people and children who have currently
taken refuge at the relief camps. Governments, states, individuals, private,
public and non-profit organizations are pouring forward to help their brothers,
sisters and children. This is a guide who wants to contribute to the cause but
do not know how to do so. Please read below to find which method suits you the
best.
The central
government has allocated INR 600 crores for the relief fund, but the
destruction from the floods rises way beyond the allocated amount. Therefore, Chief
Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has started an emergency relief fund which aims to
provide immediate relief to the families and individuals affected by the
calamity. For this purpose, the state is inviting the donations which will be
used to help the victims of the flood. The process is simple and hassle-free.
In case, you wish to provide monetary help to the victims the details of the
accounts are given below:
“Account number:

In Kannur district,

the money. Essential items such as cooking utensils, dining utensils, tumblers,

mentioned or similar items then the destination address is:

resources such as dry food, blankets, toothbrushes, etc. at the collection

India’s very own
e-retailers such as Flipkart and BigBasket have tied up with the non-profit
organizations such as Goonj and Oxfam and let the shoppers buy and donate
the relief goods. Shopper can purchase small items such as toothpaste, soaps,
toothbrush or big items such as water purifiers and companies are delivering
them to the relief organizations free of cost. Amazon India is also offering
the facilities similar to Flipkart to its users.
Mobile payment
company Paytm has introduced an option through which people can send monetary
aid to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund directly and the
company also said that it will donate the same amount from its side which its
users will contribute to the aid the victims.
Another online food
platform Zomato has tied up with the Akshay Patra through which users can
donate meals for the people at the relief camp.
If you are keen on
making the donations then there are various relief organizations which are
accepting the monetary help for the Kerala victims:
Oxfam India is accepting
the donations through its fundraising campaign on crowdfunding platform Keto
Goonj is accepting the donations to
its bank account
Habitat for
Humanity Rapid Response, Indo
Global Social Service Society, HelpAge
India are other relief groups which are running the fundraising drives to aid
the flood victims.
The above-mentioned
ways are only a few ways to help our brethren in need. Besides these, all the
major cities of the nation have also set up local collection centers where the
citizens can donate the necessary stuff for the people of Kerala. Please check
your local communities and extend a healing hand to help those who are
suffering and have lost a lot. Help spread kindness and smile.
If you know any
other ways of helping the people of Kerala please take a moment to drop the
